Now in the hands of multiple Cheltenham Festival winning trainer Jamie Snowden, Wendigo made a hugely promising debut to finish third in his bumper, chasing home a couple of highly regarded runners. Connections are confident he will improve with each run and are optimistic he will be even better once he goes over hurdles, having already won a point-to-point in his career. We’re hopeful that Wendigo will eventually prove to be a Cheltenham horse and we’re dreaming high with his future.
Wendigo has an impressive pedigree, with his sire Great Pretender producing multiple Grade 1 winners, including the likes of Greaneteen and Benie Des Dieux. He is a gorgeous 16”2 horse, who looks to have the makings of a top-class individual.
His three runs in Point-to-Points were all promising efforts, culminating in an authoritative win on his final PTP. His Racing Club debut in a Bumper at Worcester in October saw him heavily backed in the build up to the race, eventually being sent off as second favourite. He travelled smoothly throughout and made impressive headway through the field to finish third, with the two who finished ahead both highly thought of.
We’re confident Wendigo has the potential to be a Graded horse in the future, and he’s sure to give us plenty of fun along the way!
